DOMANI writeshop at Central European University to Advance Competency Framework and Microcredentials

The DOMANI consortium organised a three-day partner meeting and writeshop from 11–13 August 2025 at Central European University (CEU) in Budapest, Hungary. Held in a hybrid format and organised by CSI, the meeting brought together 22 participants, including work package leaders, representatives from partner universities, quality assurance bodies, and invited experts. The event focused on strengthening coordination across work packages and advancing discussions on competency development, microcredentials, quality assurance, mentorship, and dissemination activities.
During the first day, partners reviewed progress across WP2, WP3, WP5, and WP6, while discussions also addressed mentorship models, enrollment systems, and microcredential templates. An External Quality Assurance Officer was officially confirmed, and partner institutions agreed to appoint local QA focal points. WP3 was assigned to develop microcredential templates and institutional guidelines, while WP6 was tasked with preparing local dissemination plans.
The second day concentrated on developing the DOMANI Competency Framework. Partners examined international reference frameworks such as DIGCOMP, GREENCOMP, ENTRECOMP, and Systems Innovation frameworks. Through collaborative co-design sessions, the consortium developed an initial framework consisting of 32 competencies structured around four key clusters: Sustainability Mindset and Systems Thinking; Digital Competence and Communication for Sustainability; Collaboration and Action; and the DOMANI thematic cluster. The consortium also agreed to apply the Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes (K/S/A) format to each competency.
On the final day, participants refined and validated the framework by testing it against practical use cases. Key improvements included prioritising Data Literacy within Cluster 2, combining Digital Ethics and Security, and strengthening Cluster 3 with piloting, prototyping, and resource management components. CSI was assigned to consolidate and circulate Competency Framework version 1.1, while partners will continue mapping representative courses and preparing for piloting activities.
The Budapest meeting strengthened collaboration among DOMANI partners and established a solid foundation for the next phase of project implementation, particularly in competency piloting, microcredential delivery, and quality assurance.
